Horta, Azores, Portugal

It was pouring rain when we stopped here.  It cleared mid morning so I set off for shore. This is a tender port but there was no line today and it was a short distance to shore. I set off to see what there was to see in the small town. However, part way through it started to pour rain again. The streets were very steep and slippery and I slipped once and decided to seek lower ground even though some of the sights were higher up.  I have pictures of the Clock Tower, Forte de Santa Cruz, now a Pousada, the Main Church of San Salvador (outside and inside), the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo taken from the ship, and a picture of the surrounding countryside seen from the pier.  Unfortunately it being a Monday, the museum was closed. I also took a nice picture of the ship, MS Noordam,  framed against a cloud covered volcanic peak. This is the last port for this voyage. I will resume this post in mid June with a cruise to Iceland and Norway.
