I first visited Bergen in 2012 and at that time saw most of the important places using the hop-on hop-off bus. My visit is found at: https://lesliesh.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/bergen-norway/
Today I took a fjord cruise with a few friends to the Osterfjord with a local cruise operator, Rodne Fjord Cruise. The scenery was lovely, particularly after the sun came out and warmed up the city considerably. Local people said it was the first day of summer. I’m glad I took the cruise because our call at Eidfjord for tomorrow has been cancelled and we are heading back to England a day early. There has been a major outbreak of norovirus aboard and it is necessary to empty the ship of passengers and give her a thorough cleaning. We will be departing for next week’s cruise on Saturday as scheduled. In the meantime, I will have a day near London paid for by Holland America Line. Our next port will be the return to Alesund on Monday. I attach a few photos taken during today’s cruise, starting with a photo of the old Hanseatic port area of Bryggen and ending with a park beside the Bergen Art Museum.
